Zackery Morris, tenor, is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina and currently based in Paris, Kentucky. Zackery is thrilled to collaborate with the fine artists of the Artefact Ensemble! Equally at home on the oratorio, opera and musical theatre stages, Dr. Morris has worked with a wide array of organizations focusing on vocal music. Recent oratorio credits include serving as chorister and soloist with Bourbon Baroque and the Kentucky Bach Choir. Zackery has worked with several opera companies nationally including Opera Saratoga, American Lyric Theatre, Opera Maine, Kentucky Opera, Bayview Music Festival, Ohio Light Opera, University of Kentucky Opera Theatre, Gulf Shore Opera and Carolina Opera. Some of his favorite performance credits include Alamaviva (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Jonathan Dale (Silent Night), Tobias (The Medium), The Four Servants (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Anthony (Sweeney Todd) and Tateh (Ragtime). Zackery has performed internationally with the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Choirs, and nationally with the North Carolina Master Chorale, University of Kentucky and Wingate University Choirs. In addition to his performance engagements, Zackery is the Program Coordinator for the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre. Dr. Morris is also an advocate for voice studies focusing on yoga and stress reduction techniques and received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree based on this research. Upcoming engagements Handel’s Messiah with the Kentucky Bach Choir in April, and Guest Teaching Artist with the Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts this summer.
