Composer Donna Loomis earned an undergraduate degree in music (piano performance) then went on to study and practice law, working first as a civil rights lawyer and then as general counsel for a Catholic health care organization. Throughout her legal career, she continued to compose and to direct church choirs and ensembles. Now retired from legal practice, she has resumed composing in earnest, studying with Benedict Sheehan. Her compositions include art songs, hymns and liturgical settings, as well as musical theatre pieces. She lives with her husband, Ralph Loomis, in Danbury, Connecticut.
